On June 26, 2025, attorneys Michael L. Detzky and Stephen Hunter, partners at Detzky, Hunter & DeFillippo, LLC, attended the 8th Annual Scotch & Cigar Bazaar benefiting the State Troopers Fraternal Association (STFA) Foundation. The event, held in support of New Jersey law enforcement and their families, gathered leaders in the legal, civic, and professional communities for an evening of networking, camaraderie, and charitable giving.

Michael L. Detzky, Esq., has practiced law for over 40 years and is recognized for his depth of experience in Bankruptcy Law, Immigration and Naturalization, Military Law, and Real Estate Transactions. A former Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey, Mr. Detzky brings unmatched insight into debtor-creditor matters. He has served as a legal instructor for the United States Navy and is a retired U.S. Navy Reserve JAG Corps Captain, having received the Meritorious Service Medal, Gold Star in Lieu of Second Award.
He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, and multiple federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. Mr. Detzky has also contributed to national legal publications and has been a frequent guest commentator on FOX News concerning military and immigration legal issues. His practice continues to be guided by the Navy’s core values: Honor, Courage, and Commitment.
Stephen Hunter, Esq., has practiced law in New Jersey since 1973 and recently transitioned from the firm’s Somerville office to its Freehold location. Mr. Hunter is one of New Jersey’s preeminent attorneys in Public Sector Labor Law, representing a wide array of police, firefighter, and public school employee unions across the state. His union clients include NJEA affiliates and numerous PBA locals, as well as several Port Authority supervisory associations.
Mr. Hunter has been included in Best Lawyers in America for over 20 years and has consistently been named among New Jersey’s “Top Lawyers” in New Jersey Monthly. He has also been recognized as a New Jersey Super Lawyer in Labor Law since 2013. Beyond labor law, Mr. Hunter has litigated significant employment discrimination cases and authored landmark decisions before the New Jersey Supreme Court. He has taught at Rutgers and served in key roles with the New Jersey Public Employment Relations Commission.
